Extremely random post of randomness

I cannot concentrate on taking notes in preparation for my last full class day of the semester(!), so here's a roundup of some interesting news articles from the last couple of days:

On the media/entertainment industry front --
GE Agrees to Sell NBC to Comcast (from The New York Times)
GE, Comcast Announce NBC Universal Joint Venture (from CNN)

On the newspaper industry front --
Google Offers Online News Compromise (from Yahoo! News)

On the TV show front --
The Top 10 Most-Watched Shows of the Decade (from Yahoo! News/Hollywood Reporter)
Yay for Friends being number one! Boo for The West Wing not making the list.

And finally, just for fun --
Battle Royale: Gary Oldman Characters (from TotalFilm.com)
Fourteen of Gary's best-known characters battle each other in seven hypothetical match-ups! Hilarity ensues!

I'm perfectly fine with TWW not making a most-watched list, since we both know popularity and excellence rarely walk hand in hand.

But a pox on the house of any Best Shows of the Decade list that does include it.

This is true.

I'm fine with it being on a "Best" list, but not on a "Most Popular" list.
