MSN Movies is doing their 2008 Year in Review, and they recently posted their list of regrettable trends in pop culture.  What made the list, you ask?

The Pornstache, of course.

"We would never advocate violence, but we can certainly understand if someone perpetuated a drive-by shaving.  It's DEFCON 1 for the Mach 3."

Maybe someone will show this article to Brad and he'll take a hint.  One can only hope.

I still have a few hours before the clock strikes midnight here, but I wanted to take this time to wish all my LJ friends a happy New Year!  It's been great getting to know you over the last year, and I hope you all have a wonderful 2009!

Oh, and check out my awesome new moodtheme courtesy of the lovely [info]coloneljack!  There's no mustache on this moodtheme, that's for sure!  *points*

Hee!

I've been reading Hugh Laurie's novel, and there's a phrase in it that made me laugh out loud: "Huge moustaches with men hanging off the back loitered about in doorways...as I passed."

Naturally, I thought of Brad's pornstache. :-)

Hugh Laurie wrote a novel?! Hmm...I'm intrigued. It is good?

It is, actually! It's a kind of fluffy spy-type novel, which is more my hubby's genre than mine, but I started reading it to see if I ought to get it for hubby for Christmas, and it's so very Hugh that I've really been enjoying myself.

The Gun Seller, at Amazon.

I just read the first few pages on Amazon, and I'm considering ordering it. I love his writing style...it's very similar to the way he talks.

It really is, which is why I'm enjoying it so much. I ran across an old interview from some British morning show, not long after it was published, and the female anchor (who had a bit of a crush, I think!) was saying that as she was reading, she couldn't picture anyone *but* Hugh as his protagonist.

It's not surprising at all, really---what with Fry and Laurie and such, he's used to writing for himself, there's no reason it should be different with a novel.

I believe he's writing another one right now--due in fall of next year--don't know if it's a sequel or completely different. How he could possibly find the time to write, between the crazy House schedule, and Band from TV and all, I don't know, but I'm looking forward to whatever results!

Do you watch House too, then? I've started a re-watch discussion thread on my LJ, though I've kind of slacked off this week, and it seems to be faltering anyway--I may adjust the format.

I LOVE House. I didn't start watching regularly until mid-season three, but it seems like every time I turn on USA there's a House marathon on so I've seen most of the episodes (just not in chronological order!).

Are you re-watching from the beginning of the series? I may drop by the thread to discuss!

YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

*flails*

There are so many reasons why you're my friend, and I love finding them all! :-)

Seriously, I didn't start watching House until mid-season three, either. I'd seen a few eps here and there, and liked them, but it was an issue of timing, I think, plus I was still in intense love with West Wing. My fandoms tend to rank in intensity, LOL!

Anyway, I've watched pretty regularly since then, but with the end of last season (most amazing two hours of TV I've seen in ages), and the developments this season, I'm well and thoroughly hooked.

A bunch of other Keytusites were either just getting started on House, or have always liked it, so I started some threads. I've started them from the beginning, but I feel like I'm stumbling a bit with them, so instead of an attempt at a 'discussion' thread, I may just post my thoughts on each ep as I re-watch and invite comments...haven't decided. Honestly, we've really only done the pilot ep so far--I've got notes on the next but haven't posted them.

Please come over! :-)

Aww! Ya know, when I opened an LJ account, I never expected to meet so many great people who share my interests. It's been a really fun experience. :-)

I need to drop by Keytus and say hi -- everyone over there is so nice -- I keep meaning to visit more often, but I just haven't had much time the last few weeks.

I think that's a good idea (says the girl who tried to do a re-watch of Studio 60 a couple of months ago and never made it past the pilot). However you decide to do it, I will stop by and comment for sure!

Yes, do! (But we're doing Keytus Christmas right now, so it is *well* beyond a nuthouse at the moment.)

Yay! I need more House discussion....it's becoming an addiction, and I haven't found the right fix yet.

LJ is really the best. It's like the best of running around and being crazy at school, except you get to choose your classmates. Made. Of. Win.
