total crackpot day again

Directed by...

...Aaron Sorkin? Yep, you read that right.

This is somewhat old news, but I thought it warranted a post anyway:  West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin is set to make his directorial debut with an adaptation of The Politician, an insider's account of John Edwards' failed (and scandalous) presidential campaign.  Don't worry, folks, he'll also write and produce the picture.

I've not read Andrew Young's book, but if anyone can take this kind of "tell-all" and create a tasteful film out of it, it's Sorkin.  He told The Hollywood Reporter, "This is a first-hand account of an extraordinary story filled with motivations, decisions and consequences that would have lit Shakespeare up. There's much more to Andrew's book than what has been reported, and I'm grateful that he's trusting me with it."
