F-Bombs Away

Interesting. Very interesting.

Yesterday, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals struck down part of the Federal Communications Commission's indecency policy, holding that its guidelines on fleeting expletives (a single, non-literal use of an expletive, such as "Hey, this court decision is f*cking great!") were unconstitutionally vague and that the policy caused "a chilling effect" that goes far beyond fleeting expletives.

An article about the decision can be found here (at The Washington Post).  Read the full opinion (Fox Television Stations, Inc. v. FCC) here.

**Disclosure: I do not claim to have made up the title of this journal entry myself. I got it from a blog post on Slate. I'm just not that creative.
