Gary is thinking

"Life in a box is better than no life at all."

I've been on a Gary Oldman kick of late, so I've been working my way through his filmography. I tend to do that with actors whose work I respect...I did the same thing (with varying degrees of success) for Timothy Hutton, Robert Downey Jr., Cate Blanchett, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Bradley Whitford and a few others. Eventually I will post my thoughts on some of his best work, but for now I wanted to share this video of Gary being interviewed for the 2005 release of the Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead DVD.

By the way, if you haven't seen Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, it's a must watch for any fan of: 1) Gary Oldman, 2) Tim Roth, 3) William Shakespeare in general, and 4) Hamlet specifically.  It's based on Tom Stoppard's amazing play (adapted for the screen and directed by Stoppard himself).  What kind of person takes two very minor characters in arguably Shakespeare's greatest play and revolves an entire story around them? Genius, I tell you!

This scene is my absolute favorite part of the film:
