I couldn't think of a witty subject line. Oh, well.
So, in between cooking and more cooking in preparation for tomorrow, I managed to finish watching my new season three DVD of Bones. I liked it, but I wish the season hadn't been so abbreviated. Stupid writers strike. The show really needed more than fifteen episodes to wrap up all the storylines. I felt like something was missing between episode 14 and 15...as if there should have been at least one episode in between. There was some disjointedness (which I expected because of the weird timeframe they had to produce last season), and they didn't delve deeply enough into the whole Gormogon/Zack thing. That storyline could have easily been made into a three episode arc. Again, stupid writers strike.
Back to cooking -- my mother is going to have a stroke when roll up to my grandparents' house tomorrow morning in my SUV full of food. Seriously. I am not domestic whatsoever, so my whole family is going to freak out. This afternoon I made cornbread, and two -- count 'em, TWO -- pies (one pumpkin, one pecan). The pie crusts are homemade, by the way, not those pre-made ones you buy at the grocery store. I made the cornbread entirely myself, too. It's the first time I've ever made it without using the packaged mix stuff. And tomorrow morning I'm getting up early to make green bean casserole...it's my signature Thanksgiving dish. I think this is the most I've used my oven since I moved into this house!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Have a wonderful day!
