I guess I spoke too soon...

So, remember on Thursday when I posted that CNN blog entry from Bob Greene?  The yard sign one.  The one about how we can have opposing signs in our yards and not have to worry about them getting stolen or torn down in the middle of the night, and how it's so amazing that we disagree with one another and yet are still good neighbors?  Yeah, never mind.

There has been a rash of Obama yard sign thefts throughout my county, especially in the city where I live.  My next door neighbor got hers stolen the night of the VP debate.   I got an email from the county Party Chair earlier today, and apparently most of the signs got stolen during the actual debate.  How sad is that?  Do these people really think someone's yard sign is going to affect other people's vote?  That's highly unlikely...they're just being jerks.

I didn't have a sign in my yard so I wasn't affected, but I do have an Obama magnet on my new car.  Now I'm worried that someone is going to key my car in the parking lot while I'm at work.  I really don't want to take the magnet off, but I also don't want to risk any damage to my paint job.

Oh, P.S. -- I took the LSAT this morning.  I feel like I did pretty well, but I won't know my score until the end of the month.  I'm so relieved that it's over!

Wow, that's just nuts. It's like...they taint their own party, you know? Yeah, THAT'S a club I want to join. You're right, you've convinced me. I'm voting for McCain. *facepalm*

Congrats on getting through the LSAT! I can't imagine how relieved you must feel! Have a celebratory...something. *hugs you*

Now I'm worried that someone is going to key my car in the parking lot while I'm at work.

I know the feeling--I had exactly the same worries before putting an Obama sticker on my car. And I'm watching my yard sign like a hawk.

So far, no keying. But the closer the election gets, and the more frightened the McCain supporters get....this is a fairly Red county, and the town I live in is full of rednecks...I hate to generalize or stereotype, but I am nervous. I just decided to visibly make a stand this year, and hope for the best. Hope that by not 'hiding' my affiliation, I'll encourage more local
'closet liberals' to come out of the woodwork. I am somewhat heartened by seeing more Obama stickers than McCain ones, and lots of yard signs (though it seems the McCain ones are starting to pop up). I'm hoping the county swings Blue this year.

I feel ya. It's exactly the same way here.

Good for you! Here's a funny story...after my neighbor got her sign stolen she went to the local Democratic party headquarters and got one of those gigantic ones as a replacement...you know, the kind you put at highway intersections and such? It's huge! She refuses to be intimidated.

She refuses to be intimidated.

Ha! That's *awesome*. I figure if mine gets stolen, I'll run down to headquarters and get another one, but put it in my window instead. If *that* one gets messed with, there should be felony charges attached. :-P
